Bridal Shower Invites

For the bridal shower we had established a coral, mint, and pink color scheme with hints of gold. We also had decided that we were going to have some rustic aspects as well. I spent so much time searching for invitations online and when I found these ones on www.zazzle.com I knew they were totally the ones!

I was able to customized the colors on the website to fit the colors we had chosen. We also had decided to create Londyn a recipe book with recipes from all the women in her life. I found a recipe card that closely matched the invitations, on Etsy, and was able to download them and print them out. I included 2 recipe cards in each invitation.

I included a little insert that said the following:

If you are unable to attend the shower, it would really mean a lot if you would fill out the recipe cards with your favorite recipes, to start (the Bride's name's) recipe collection, with the best recipes from her loved ones!

Please send them to: First Name/ Last Name
Address of person receiving the RSVPs

                                                 Thank you so very much!

I was the person in charge of the RSVP list, and I was in charge of the invitations. On the invitations I included my phone number as well as me email address for a way to RSVP. I would say that about 75% of the guests RSVP'd through email. This worked out well for me, just an idea if you are working on party invites, maybe you could try that out. Also I live in Southern California, we had invited 75+ people, and the shower was going to be held outside in July. I also felt it necessary to include on the invitation that the shower was going to be held outside, so please dress appropriately!

Next up will be wooden signs, and Bridal Shower directional signs that I made for the shower!

Bridal Shower Planning

This September my Brother is getting married. Him and his Fiancé will be getting married on their 8 year dating anniversary, so Londyn has been part of our family for so many years already and I already consider her my sister. My family had the privilege of getting to throw a Bridal Shower for Londyn along with her family. I worked on so many different DIY projects with my Dad, so I will be breaking them up in to several posts. Make sure to check back to see all of the details.

The first thing I did when starting to plan this Bridal Shower was make a vision board. I gathered pictures from Pinterest of ideas that I had for themes, colors, and projects to be made. We had a planning meeting with my family, Londyn's family, and a few of her bridesmaids. I wanted to have a meeting to go over plans, ideas and visions to make the shower become a reality.

I also made up a document (that I will attach below) that I had printed out for each person attending the planning meeting, that way each detail was ironed out and no one was left guessing what they were in charge of. Seem like a bit much? Maybe, but I feel like this helped make the planning process so much easier!

Below I have pasted in the document that I created for the planning meeting, enjoy!

My Room- Mini Makeover!

A few weeks ago I got a new bed, so I decided that my room needed a little update!

I found these new pillows at Marshall's!
The yellow ones were $9.99 each! The grey one is Kate Spade and was ONLY $12.99, I thought is was the cutest thing, and it just had to come home with me!
The "Believe you can and you will" canvas I bought from Burlington Coat Factory! I know right, who would have thought to look there for home goods! But they have some really great things!
This is the new wall collage I made!
Pictures are also one of my most favorite things, like EVER
I love to have pictures of all of my favorite people and my favorite memories all over the place!
Titus approves of my new bed, and loves the new pillows! I'm still dreaming up what I want to make for a headboard, so keep your eyes out hopefully soon for what I have in the works for that!

Fancy Dinner!

Every year around Christmas time, it's never on a set day, we have Fancy Dinner at my parents house. We all get dressed up and have dinner together. This year we had Mexican food, and it was so yummy!

I got this super cute crate at Ross one day, it has a chalk board on the front. I knew I had to have it when I saw it and I'm so happy I got it!

I continued with the red and gold and glitter theme for the fancy dinner table set up. I picked/ cut some succulents from around the yard, and put them in pots that I added glitter to.

For everyone's place card I used puffy paint and wrote the names on little peices of barn wood.

Fancy Dinner is one of my favorite traditions of the year!

Stocking holder!

I had seen a picture on Pinterest of a board with hooks to hang stockings on, so I knew I wanted to make something similar for my Mom and Dad's house. They do not have a fireplace or  mantle to hang stockings on so I thought this would be perfect! My Dad and I worked on this project together and I loved every minute of it!

We found a piece of old barn wood and it was actually perfect size for where we wanted to hang it so we didn't need to cut it down at all.
We used rocks as markers to figure out the spacing and where we wanted to put the knobs.
I had collected knobs from all over, one was a vintage one that was on an old dresser at my Grandparent's house, a couple were from Pier One, and the others I had gotten from a local few different local hardware stores.
This is the only picture I got of it hung up with all of the stockings on it, but you get the idea! It turned out just how I had imagined and I really like the way it looks!

The most wonderful time of the year!

I love Christmas time! It is by far my favorite time of the year! I love everything about it, the sights, the smells, the food, and the time with the people I love the most!

This year I went with a theme of red and gold, and a lot of glitter!
Here are a few looks from around the house!

Wrapping gifts is one of my favorite things to do, ever.

I made this money tree for a family gift exchange. The limit is $20-25, I got the little tree on sale from Michael's and then folded 20 $1 bills and hung them as ornaments on the tree. This is a cute and different way to give cash as a gift!

And of course I probably had a few too many red Holiday cups from Starbucks this season!
Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas season, and are having a great start to 2014!

Handmade Flower Crown.

My sister Lindsey, our friend Carlie and I had talked about doing a photo-shoot just for fun, for quite a while. A few months ago now, we packed up a picnic basket, and 2 vintage suit cases full of outfits and accessories and props and headed out to the canyon for our photo-shoot.  Flower crowns have been so popular this year, in weddings and photo-shoots, so I decided to make one for our pictures. It was very simple, and I absolutely loved how it turned out!

What you'll need:
3 strips of scrap fabric
2 tiny clear rubber bands
Real or artificial flowers
A hot glue gun & hot glue

I used scrap pieces of fabric that I had.
I tied 3 strips together with a tiny rubber band, then I braided the fabric together.
I made the strips extra long that way the crown could be tied on,
and easily removed for the three of us to wear!

I bought 2 bouquets of flowers from Trader Joe's.
You can also totally use artificial flowers!
I then cut all of the blooms off of their stems.
I weaved leaves and some of the extra foliage that was in the bouquets in through the braid and hot glued them to back, to make sure they were secure. I hot glued the flowers onto the fabric. For the heavier flowers (like the sunflowers) I pushed what was left from the steam through the fabric braid and hot glued on the back to secure.
Here it is all finished!
And take a look at the pictures below to see how gorgeous the flower crown
 looked in our photo-shoot!

Thanks for stoping by and Happy 2014!
I promise you will be seeing a lot more posts this year!
